Rogelio Maravilla is the son of immigrants while also being the first to graduate from high school and university in his family. He has extensive experience working in the legal field, ranging from immigration law as a legal assistant to criminal law as skilled paralegal.
He began volunteering for Opening Doors. Inc, in Sacramento in 2018 for their legal department. He worked on a variety of immigration applications: Naturalization, Asylum, DACA, LPR, U-Visas, and T-Visas. His background fueled his passion for immigrant rights and inspired him to continue developing skills to better assist the immigrant community.
From 2019-2021, Rogelio worked for Immigrant Defenders Law Center in Los Angeles. He started by working for the Children’s Representation Project that provides full scale removal defense for over 1,200 children. He worked his way up to a paralegal position for the Post Conviction Relief Project where he worked on motions to vacate for clients with criminal convictions that made them either inadmissible or ineligible for relief in removal proceedings.
In 2022, Rogelio set his sights on improving his newly acquired knowledge in post-conviction relief and began working for The Matian Firm in Los Angeles where he served more than 150 clients at any given time in post-conviction relief matters. This is where Rogelio learned to analyze criminal convictions and look for details that made them winnable cases if they were to submit a motion. He loved this kind of work because he could help long-time immigrants who had worked and lived in the United States their whole life, but for a legal technicality, could not adjust their status.
Rogelio came back to the Bay Area in 2023 and now works for SILVER LAW FIRM as their Senior Paralegal. He has a passion for defending clients who are in danger of losing their most valuable human right: their freedom. He lives with his wife, baby and 2 cats in Oakland.
